San Antonio Spurs and Victor Wembanyama will travel to Paris to face Indiana Pacers in next season

Victor Wembanyama will return to his hometown in France in January, when the San Antonio Spurs play two regular-season games against the Indiana Pacers in Paris, according to the National Basketball Association.

According to the National Basketball Association, Victor Wembanyama will return to his hometown in France in January when the San Antonio Spurs play two regular-season games against the Indiana Pacers in Paris. Victor Wembanyama, who is expected to be winner of 2023-24 NBA Rookie of the Year, was selected first overall in the 2023 NBA draft after playing for Metropolitans 92 in the French capital.

The NBA will play two regular-season games in the French capital on January 23 and 25 for the first time in a single season. However, the venue of the game hasn’t been announced by NBA till now. In 71 games for the San Antonio Spurs, Victor Wembanyama is averaging 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and a league-high 3.6 blocks per game this season. He was the first overall choice in last year's NBA Draft.

Indiana Pacers, who will play their first games in France, presently have 2024 All-Star Tyrese Haliburton and former NBA champion and two-time All-Star Pascal Siakam on their roster. Meanwhile for San Antonio Spurs, they will play their third and fourth games in Paris, having last played there during the 2006 preseason.

Victor Wembanyama aim to win gold with France

In the NBA regular season without Victor Wembanyama in the starting lineup this season, San Antonio was 0–6. Before that, Wembanyama is anticipated to be a star in the Paris Olympics, where France aims to win gold for the first time since losing to the United States in the final in Tokyo.

“The return of the San Antonio Spurs and Victor Wembanyama to Paris to face Tyrese Haliburton and the Indiana Pacers will be a landmark moment for the growth of basketball in Europe,” NBA Deputy Commissioner Mark Tatum said in a news release.
