Former Indian opener Akash Chopra has expressed his concern over the way Suryakumar Yadav has batted during IPL 2024. The 33-year-old had missed the first few games owing to the rehab he had been undergoing post his surgery.

With just two fifties this season, there is a lot of talk about Suryakumar Yadav’s form especially after his failures in his last three games. Mumbai Indians who are on the brink of elimination will take on Suryakumar Yadav’s former side Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday.

Akash Chopra addressed the issue while speaking on his YouTube Channel. According to the 46-year the current form of Suryakumar Yadav has been one of the reasons behind the dismal showing by Mumbai Indians this year.

Akash Chopra makes huge statement on Suryakumar Yadav

While speaking on his YouTube Channel, the former India opener said “The batting had a lot of might but that hasn’t been seen. Suryakumar Yadav’s form has gone south. He was dismissed early in all three games – Rajasthan, Delhi, and Lucknow. It was the same story for Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan as well,”

Suryakumar Yadav will want to get back to his prime scoring form as he is part of the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup. The 33-year-old has a record in the T20I format and will want to score runs in order to help India win its first ICC title in nearly 11 years.

Tom Moody while speaking to Star Sports said “If India didn't pick him, every other team would have wanted to have him in their squad. Surya is coming from a long injury lay off. If anything, he's saving the runs for the US and the Caribbean. You don't keep a player with the record that SKY has quiet for too long,"

Former Indian seamer Sreesanth too heaped praise on the star batter “I don't see any change in his batting. If the ball comes onto the bat then it'll help him but if it grips then he might take a little bit of extra time. Surya is Surya, SKY has no limits”

Mumbai Indians are currently 9th in table having 6 points from the 10 games they have played so far. If they have to make it to the top four of the table they need to win all their games and make sure that other results go in their favor.
