The 48th match of the Indian Premier League was scheduled on 30th April 2024 in the Ekana Sports City stadium in Lucknow, where the two teams Lucknow SuperGiants (LSG) and Mumbai Indians (MI) faced off against each other. The LSG skipper KL Rahul had won the toss and decided to take the field and bowl first.
On his 37th birthday, the former MI captain Rohit Sharma, who opened the battle with Ishan Kishan, was not able to create much impact as he was dismissed after scoring 4 runs in 5 balls. On the other hand, MI Captain Hardik Pandya, could not make much difference as he entered as a batter in the number 5 position, and was not able to score a single run for his side.
The Mumbai Indians had set an easy target of 145 runs for the Lucknow SuperGiants to chase, and it was a much-needed victory by KL Rahul and Co. and LSG was able to emerge victorious by 4 wickets.
Stoinis steals the show
During the chase, the duo of KL Rahul and Arshin Kulkarni was very short-lived. On the other hand, Marcus Stonis is a great support for his side. His brilliant half-century gave LSG a ray of hope to win the match. Stonis was able to score 62 runs off 45 balls and amazed the crowd with his 7 fours and 2 sixers.
After playing 10 matches, LSG has climbed up the ladder in the points table and is sitting in the 3rd position after Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) respectively. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians, who have also played 10 matches till now this season, are in the 9th position of the points table, with 3 wins and 7 losses.
