Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) hosted Rishabh Pant’s Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 47th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The match was played at the iconic Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata, the same venue where the fans witnessed an unforgettable and historic game between KKR and PBKS which was the 42nd game of the current season.

However, this match went against everyone’s expectations of the pitch of Eden Gardens; the KKR bowlers made this match a low-scoring thriller with their absolute dominance and brilliance in the first innings following DC choosing to bat first after winning the toss. DC posted a total of 153 runs for the loss of 153 wickets for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs, which was chased down by KKR in 16.3 overs, scoring 157 runs for the loss of 3 wickets and winning the match by 7 wickets.

Here are the 5 worst performances from the match:

Abhishek Porel (DC) – 18 runs off 15 balls

The DC had a lot of expectations from the number 3 batter Abhishek Porel but he failed to live up to the team’s expectations and could score only 18 runs off 15 balls, with 2 fours and a six, with a below-par average of 120.00.

Porel came to bat for DC after they lost their wicket early at the score of 17 runs in the second over of the first innings. Porel was trapped by KKR pacer Harshit Rana in a ‘clean bowled’ dismissal.

Tristan Stubbs (DC) – 4 runs off 7 balls

The in-form DC batter Tristan Stubbs was sent in the middle lower down the order by the captain and the former failed to deliver at the ‘changed batting spot’. He fell prey to the star bowler of the day for KKR, Varun Chakravarthy.

Stubbs could score only 4 runs off 7 balls, without any four or six on his credit, having a poor strike rate of 57.14.

Jake Fraser McGurk (DC) – 12 runs off 7 balls

One of the most consistent performers with the bat for DC in the ongoing IPL 2024, Jake Fraser-McGurk couldn’t deliver up to his ‘hitting stature’ in this all-important game against KKR. Fraser-McGurk came to open the innings for DC in the first innings, alongside Prithvi Shaw.

The Aussie youngster got a good start with a four and a six but he couldn’t convert it into a big knock and got dismissed at the individual score of just 12 runs off 7 balls in the 3rd over of the innings. He was dismissed by the veteran KKR pacer Mitchell Starc.

Mitchell Starc (KKR) – 1/43 in 3 overs

The most expensive player in the history of IPL and the veteran KKR pacer once again struggled with a poor run of form with the ball in the game against DC. When all other KKR bowlers were making it difficult to survive for DC batters, Starc was getting smashed by DC batters in all corners of the ground.

The Aussie speedster conceded 43 runs in just 3 overs, with a very expensive economy rate of 14.33, scalping only one wicket on his credit.

Lizaad Williams (DC) - 1/38 in 3 overs

One of the strike bowlers for DC, Lizaad Williams had a disastrous performance in the tough night for DC against KKR. He conceded 38 runs in just 3 overs, with a very expensive economy rate of 12.66, scalping only one wicket on his credit.

Lizaad Williams also dropped a catch in the second innings while fielding for DC the visitors were defending their low total of 153 runs.
