Punjab Kings (PBKS) created history when they successfully chased down the 262-run target against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 42nd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. It was a historic game as this is the highest-ever scored chase in T20 history. The 42 sixes hit during the game were also the most scored by any team in the history of T20 Cricket.

Sunil Narine (75) and Phil Salt (71) ensured yet another fast start for the KKR batting side. The two batters ensured their side got a good start with the bat to put the PBKS bowlers under pressure as KKR scored 261 on the board. Prabhsimran Singh, Jonny Bairstow and Shashank Singh had other ideas as they played without fear to win the match for their team.

Here are the 5 standout performances from the match:

5. Rahul Chahar -1/33 from 4 overs

In a game where every bowler was hit for runs, only Rahul Chahar managed to hold his own. The young spinner bowled four overs, gave away just 33 runs and took the key wicket of Sunil Narine for 71. If it wasn’t for the spell by Rahul Chahar the Kolkata Knight Riders would have run away with the game.

4. Prabhsimran Singh – 54 runs from 20 balls

Many fans felt that the game was done and dusted as soon as KKR posted the massive 261-run score on the board. Prabhsimran Singh had other ideas as he went after the KKR bowlers right from the start and scored his fifty off just 18 balls. The youngster was the reason why PBKS could manage to put up a fight as they raced to a frenetic start.

3. Sunil Narine – 71 runs from 32 balls and 1/24 from 4 overs

The blazing blade of Sunil Narine didn’t stop as he scored yet another half-century this season. The veteran West Indian star first pulverized the Punjab Kings bowlers as he raced to 71 runs from 32 with the help of 9 fours and 4 sixes. Sunil Narine then got the wicket of Rilee Rossouw to end his day with the ball with 1/24 from 4 overs.

2. Shashank Singh – 68 not out from 28 balls

Punjab Kings breakout star Shashank Singh was batting like a man possessed as he went after the KKR bowlers. After setting his eye on the right-handed batter, he decided to throw caution to the win and began to smash sixes at will. Shashank Singh took off his helmet once he hit the winning run and began to celebrate the huge win.

1. Jonny Bairstow – 108 not out from 48 balls

After missing the last few games, Jonny Bairstow made up for lost time as he played a brilliant knock. The England batter scored his 2nd ever IPL century in what could be termed his best-ever knock in T20 cricket. His knock of 108 not out came off 48 balls with 8 fours and 9 sixes.
