It was a case of so near and yet so far for the Rajasthan Royals team as they lost the 50th Indian Premier League (IPL) match by 1 run against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The target of 202 runs to win looked well within the grasp of the team at the top of the table when Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag were batting.

Rovman Powell tried to keep RR in the hunt with some lusty blows right at the end. Bhuvneshwar Kumar showed all his experience as he bowled a great Yorker to end the game and earn his team a close win.

Here are the top 5 worst performances of the match:

5. Anmolpreet Singh – 5 runs from 5 balls

220

After warming the benches, the decision to play Anmolpreet Singh hasn’t been a good one for the SRH side. The former Mumbai Indians star was out cheaply yet again as he offered yet another simple catch this time to Yashasvi Jaiswal to continue his poor form with the bat.

4. Jos Buttler – 0 runs from 1 ball

219

The English skipper seemed to find his feet go nowhere as Bhuvneshwar Kumar got rid of Jos Buttler for the 7th time in T20 cricket. In just the second ball of the chase, which was Buttler’s first ball he flashed at a ball going away from him only to see Marco Jansen take a good catch in the first slip.

3. Sanju Samson – 0 runs from 3 balls

218

Much was expected from Sanju Samson as he came out to bat for his side which was chasing 202 to win. After seeing out the first two balls, Samson was beaten with the swing in the air as he saw Bhuvneshwar Kumar rip out his middle stump with an amazing ball.

2. Marco Jansen -0/44 from four overs

It wasn’t an easy comeback to the side for the South African Marco Jansen as he gave away 44 runs and couldn’t pick any wickets. The left-arm seamer looked rusty during the game and also bowled two huge no-balls. Jansen would have gotten himself a wicket if only Pat Cummins had held onto the sharp chance offered by Yashasvi Jaiswal when on 7.

1. Yuzvendra Chahal -0/62 from 4 overs

216

A day after making his return to the Indian side, Yuzvendra Chahal endured his worst-ever day in the IPL. The 33-year-old spinner was hit for 62 runs from his four overs to record his worst-ever bowling figures in the IPL and one of the costliest spells in the league's history.
