With the ICC T20I World Cup set to be played in West Indies and USA the International Cricket Council is getting ready for the event in a massive way. The fastest-ever sprinter Usain Bolt who is originally from Jamaica has been named as the ambassador for the upcoming mega event starting on 1st June.

The multiple-time Olympic Champions is a known fan of cricket as much as he loves his football and Manchester United. Usain Bolt is very good friends with yet another legend from Jamaica and that happens to be Chris Gayle.

West Indies have won the title on two occasions in 2012 and 2016. This is the second time the Caribbean islands are set to host the event after playing hosts in 2010. For the first time ever the United States of America will be hosting a huge cricket event.

Usain Bolt shares his joy on becoming the Ambassador

Once the news of Usain Bolt being named the ambassador for the 2024 T20I World Cup was confirmed the Jamaican spoke glowingly about the event. While speaking to the media the Olympic legend said “America believes a lot in sport and high intensity and for me to get into the market is a big thing”

Usain Bolt also said “When they follow a sport, they follow a sport properly and they go all in and I feel like if they can crack into it, they will get into it the right way. If we bring energy like I know we will for the T20 [World Cup] it is going to be wonderful."

The Jamaican legend also added “If you listen to NBA players and the way they talk about winning a gold medal, they have won NBA titles, they have their rings, but they are like 'we went to the Olympics. That is how big getting a gold medal is. Every sport tries to get into the Olympics because it is such a big thing and it is such a great feeling to be on a podium winning that gold medal”

England are the defending champions of the T20 World Cup having won the event in 2022 beating Pakistan in the final. India and Pakistan will face each other for the 8th time in the T20I World Cup with New York set to host the big game on the 9th of June.
