Two weeks after the launch, Moon Studios has now released the first patch for No Rest for the Wicked, and it has brought in a ton of changes. The most significant one is the multitude of optimizations that have improved performance by a lot.

Since the release of the game, the developers have released hotfixes for the entire first week. The second week was entirely dedicated to the first patch, for which the developers gave updates frequently. Not the patch is out and there is a significant improvement in the game.

The devs said that the patch would significantly lower the minimum specification, and it did. The recommended specs dropped from, RTX 3070 Ti/RX 6800 XT to RTX 2060/RX 5600 XT which is a huge drop. Processor requirement also dropped from i5-12600k/Ryzen 7 5800X3D to i7-11700k/Ryzen 7 5800x.

Our internal test saw improved FPS while exploring with the optimizations. Freeroam saw over 80 fps, with frames sometimes dropping between 65-70 in some areas. Main City could still use a few more tweaks, as some areas still saw fps drop to 40. As for the system, it was tested on 3060ti with R5 5600x. The game is set to quality with an 80% scale.

The upcoming updates will be introducing DLSS and FSR features for further improving fps. These were earlier a part of the first patch but were delayed. The devs plan on adding FSR 2.2, but one of the players suggests FSR 3 so maybe we will see that alongside DLSS soon.

A lot of quality-of-life updates

However, players might need to grind for currency through bounties to buy their own house. As usual, the patch also brings loads of bug fixes that for a long list. Players who want to read the full patch notes can check out below.

The housing option is now also available soon after completing the sacrament quest. Players now have increased storage capacity and can utilize items directly from their inventory for crafting. Previously, players would have to run back and take the required items. Alongside that, players now also have a full mouse and keyboard control scheme with the option to remap keys.

There are also loot and balance changes to enemies and players. Riven Twins and Nith Brute boss also saw damage nerf for Grab attack, while multiple others saw improved animation allowing proper parry or dodge opportunity.
