There have been plenty of legendary players in tennis, but one of the most iconic players in 21st century is the King of Clay Rafael Nadal. The 37-year-old Spaniard has achieved everything in the game and is one of the global figures in the world of sports even today. The 22-grand slam winner and former world number 1 has also been an inspiration to all the fans and upcoming players in the mix making him one of the greatest to ever play the sport.

Rafael Nadal was playing the Madrid Open  and had given some great performances, but eventually failed to make it to the playoffs after losing to Jiri Lehecka in the fourth round of the tournament. There was still a lot of support for El Nino as he was playing at home and was enjoying his game as well. before this game Nadal also played with a 29-year-old Argentenian Pedro Cachin in the previous round. Though Nadal won the game he was still challenged by the South American who played all three sets against the master. During the match Pedro also made a request to Nadal for a tshirt to which the Spaniard happilly accepted.

The views of the tennis world

Though this seemed like a fan frenzy moment for Cachin who seemed to idolise the legend there were still some views shared on social media about this moment. Jiri Lehecka who had beaten Nadal in the tournament had said in the interview that he found the move by Cachin to be weird and diminished this moment, the rest of the people had other opinions. Former Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios gave his opinion saying on this matter with a positive response saying "NBA players, soccer players do it all the time? It’s a memory, an experience that took a lifetime of work and that less than 1% of humans get to. You wouldn’t understand."

This seemed like a decent response from the professional ATP player. Even WTA world number 1 ranked player Iga Swiatek was asked about her opinion where she was asked whether she experienced such a thing during her career to which the 4 time grand slam champion replied saying stating " Not really, but if I would play against Rafa, for sure I would ask for a t-shirt." Overall it just seems like a fan showing his respect to a legend which is being overcriticised by some people.
