After the high octane action in the 50 overs World Cup, all the teams have now turned their attention to the next year’s T20 championship. Most of the contenders have prepared their schedule keeping the gala event in the mind. Particularly the Indian team who are going to play as much as 5 T20 series in the next 6 months.
Again Virat Kohli’s men will be the hot favorites because of the talent involved in the country’s cricketing system. Though Men in Blue have a settled unit they have already started testing out different combinations in order to shape up a quality side for Down Under. Amidst their preparations, they should also give opportunities to players who have proved their mettle in the domestic arena and IPL.
Here is the list of 3 players who should be fast-tracked to the Indian team for the T20 World Cup
1) Shubman Gill

A beautiful bat swing, classy shot-making, imperial timing you name it and Shubman Gill will put up a show with all these attributes. The Punjab teenager has turned into a sensation in the span of two years. With each outing, he is making a strong case for a permanent locker in the Indian team. He is deemed the next batting maestro from the country.
Recently he was again making headlines when he stroked a double century against the Windies A in a first-class game. Before that, he was also in the red-hot form in the IPL 2019. While opening the innings for the Kolkata franchise he awed the audience with his batting displays. He is a rare youngster who seems in complete control across formats and that’s why he should be quickly added to the senior set-up.
Particularly he should be a part of the Indian squad in the next year’s T20 championship. As the regular openers, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan are on the other side of 30’s they will be more injury-prone. In case one of them is sidelined Gill can effectively fill the void as he has the temperament to succeed in ICC events. He has the ability to impose himself on the opposition and it is a quality associated with world-class players.
2) Suryakumar Yadav

The maidans of Mumbai have always produced good cricketing talents. One such gifted individual is Suryakumar Yadav who has been a consistent performer in the domestic arena since his Ranji Trophy debut in 2011. He is a modern-day cricketer with a touch of elegance. Irrespective of the format he has been a valuable asset for the Mumbai side.
The right-hander grabbed the eyeballs with his unorthodox shots in the initial years of his IPL career. Thereafter he was snapped up by the Mumbai franchise in the 2018 IPL auction. Since then he has been a revelation at top of the order. He is a versatile player and right now the Indian team needs a batsman who can fit in at any position in the playing XI.
Suryakumar is equally adept against pace and spin. On top of that, he is a cricketer who can play according to the situation and his presence in the national squad will be helpful in the upcoming T20 World Cup. He can easily anchor the innings and can still play the role of a floater when the team is in search of quick runs. Yadav is also a good fielder which is an important aspect of slam-bang cricket.,
3) Krishnappa Gowtham

In recent years, the Karnataka state team is booming with skilled cricketers and Krishnappa Gowtham is one of them. At 30, the all-rounder is a late bloomer who has generated some impressive numbers in the last couple of years. He has been a premier spinner for his domestic side. Gowtham has also evolved into a capable lower-order batsman with his power game.
A year ago he was hogging the limelight when he was bowling quality spells in the 2018 Vijay Hazare trophy. He continued his growth in the 2018 IPL where he scalped 11 wickets for the Rajasthan team. In the present scenario, he is the only right-arm off-spinner who has been making the right noises. India has focused too much on their wrist spinners but they should also nurture talent like Gowtham before the 7th edition of the T20 championship.
He recently took a fifer against Windies A which is the further proof that he is ready for the international challenges. Particularly Gowtham can be an enterprising option in Australia, host of the 2020 T20 World Cup. His height will allow him to extract the extra bounce on those surfaces. His power hitting will give the team the required firepower in the end overs. Unlike other spinners, he is swift and agile in the field which makes him a genuine match-winner.
