In this day and age, social media is a part of everybody’s life. Without Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, life is tough for everybody, including cricketers and sportspersons. There are a lot of cricketers who love posting different things and frequently interacting on social media.
However, when social media first started out, a lot of them were experimenting with it as well. Hence, there have been some very embarrassing moments on social media for cricketers as well. They have posted pretty lame and embarrassing things which they would regret today.
Thus, here are 5 such old tweets from cricketers
1. Aditya Tare abuses Shahrukh Khan and Kamaal R Khan

One of the talking points off the field in the 2012 season of the IPL was the battle between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) co-owner Shahrukh Khan and the Wankhede Stadium. The Bollywood star got into a fight with the MCA officials which led the latter to register a complaint with the Marine Drive Police Station. It was alleged that he was drunk as well.
Hence, in the end, Shahrukh Khan was banned from entering the Wankhede Stadium. The things have been settled now and the ban has also been revoked. However, back when this broke out, Mumbai Indians (MI) cricketer was glad about the decision of banning the KKR co-owner from Wankhede. He expressed it on Twitter too. He wrote, “Drunk Shah Rukh banned at Wankhede for life……. hahahahahaha!!! King khan my a**.”
At the same time, the wicket-keeper batsman abused Kamaal R Khan. He was accused of favouring MS Dhoni and said that the Bollywood star has no right to tell anything against Sachin Tendulkar. Tare recently deleted these two tweets.

2. Rohit Sharma remembers the wrong Champions Trophy

Under Mahendra Singh Dhoni, India won all ICC titles, with the last one coming in the Champions Trophy 2013. India were not outright favourites at the start of the tournament. However, they dominated almost every game as they finished the tournament unbeaten. They breezed through to the semi-final by beating South Africa, West Indies and Pakistan. They defeated Sri Lanka in the semis before eking out a nerve-wracking five-run win in the final against England.
Rohit Sharma along with his opening partner Shikhar Dhawan was one of the big positives for the ‘Men in Blue’. It was also the first time the former opened the batting in a full series for India in ODI cricket. Hence, earlier this year, on 23rd June, the current Indian vice-captain tweeted about that tournament.
Rohit put out a picture with Dhawan, Suresh Raina and Bhuvneshwar Kumar and the Champions Trophy. However, he used the wrong hashtag. Instead of 2013, he used the 2017 one and thus, he was trolled for it. But he soon deleted the post as well.

Hey Ro huge admirer of yours..❤️
But I think you meant #ChampionsTrophy2013— Pranav Chaturvedi (@PranavChat7) June 23, 2019
Indeed memories to cherish for life brother, but ones from 2013 😂. You got me tricked too. https://t.co/7BAYbb4h6B

3. Yuzvendra Chahal asking everyone to check DM

It was in 2011 that Yuzvendra Chahal gained some attraction when he was bought by Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL auctions. However, he didn’t play a game till 2013. But he was a part of Haryana’s side right from the 2009-10 season. In fact, he made his debut in all three formats in the same season.
Also, it is no secret that Chahal is an active social media user and loves playing around. He is often seen commenting on other players’ posts and trying to fool around. However, back in 2012, he did make a fool out of himself. The Haryana leg-spinner tried to DM everybody.
Chahal tried to DM a lot of women and asked them to check that through replies to their tweets. Not once, multiple on multiple occasions, Chahal has tried to ask numbers of women. He DMing and used hashtags like #waiting in the replies.

4. Virat Kohli’s cheeky reply to Shibani Dandekar

There is no doubt that Virat Kohli is one of the best batsmen in the world at the moment. The potential was seen in his early days. He gained limelight through the Under-19 World Cup where he led India to the title. The Delhi batsman made his debut in 2008 and slowly came up the ranks.
Kohli soon became one of the most promising batsmen and consistently performed at the international level. However, it is no secret that Kohli was also a party-freak in his early years. He wasn’t shy to express himself either.
Hence, he was once caught on Twitter trying to talk to the then IPL presenter Shibani Dandekar. To one of the latter’s tweets, Kohli replied by terming her as a stranger and hoped she’s good.
@shibanidandekar hello stranger. hope ur good 🙂

5. MS Dhoni’s no fever tweet

We all know MS Dhoni as a cool and calm person. He likes to keep to himself and not share a lot of things on social media. In fact, over the last few years, there’s hardly been any tweets from Dhoni. Most of them have been pictures or Instagram links.
However, back when he joined Twitter newly, he constantly tweeted. There was a regular update on what he was doing and where he was travelling. Moreover, he was also very cheeky with his tweets. It was after his tweet, Ravindra Jadeja got the title of ‘Sir’ on Twitter. Dhoni loved pulling his teammates’ leg frequently.
Back in 2010, he had fever for a few days in the month of September. Hence, he updated Twitter after he recovered completely. He tweeted, “Finally No more fever…..”
Finally No more fever…..
