The Indian Premier League, that has been evolving all through the years, saw another change being made to its governing policies for the 2020 season which has become the talking point ever since it was announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
The new policy that has been introduced is called the âInter Team Loan Systemâ. This would allow the franchises to loan out players who fall under the criterion set by the board to other teams on the halfway mark of the league stage of the tournament.
The introduction of this could see a lot of transfers being done and the teams would try to fill out all of the loopholes that were left in their line-ups after the auction. The management of all the franchises will be drafting out names of the players to be given out prior to the start of the tournament. This would leave them with a definitive roster to choose their final XI from.
So, hereâs a look at 5 such names who could be seen changing jerseys halfway through the tournament this year:
1. Murali Vijay

Once a batting mainstay of the Chennai Super Kings found himself warming the bench of the teamâs dugout through most of the 2019 season of the Indian Premier League. He has not been a part of any form of competitive cricket since the October of 2019 and would be the first choice for the Chennai Super Kings to give out as a loaned player if the need comes.
Vijay played only two matches in the 2019 season and in those two matches, he was able to score 64 runs at an average of 32 and a strike rate of 104.92. His strike rate is low by the standards of modern-day opening batsmen who get open fields to hit the ball to the boundary in the first six overs of the match.
While he may not be a great fit for CSK, the experience he has behind his back could prove to be a boon for any team that he joins. In his IPL career, he has played 103 innings and has an aggregate of 2587 runs to his name, which is no mean a feat.
In the 2020 season of the IPL, Shane Watson, like the previous years will be opening the batting along Faf du Plessis or some other player and definitely not Murali Vijay. This makes him a perfect choice for the CSK team management to loan out to other teams if needed.
2. Moeen Ali

The Royal Challengers Bangalore team that is still searching for its first tournament, will be going into the 2020 season of IPL with the best of its players. And, Moeen Aliâs name in all probabilities will not be featuring in that list. But, the one list that he could very well be a part of would be the list of players that are loaned out by RCB to the other teams.
While he has had a decent run in the Indian Premier League, as an all-rounder for RCB, but his recent form has not been the best. In his last 5 matches in the Pakistan Super League, he hasnât fared well both with the bat and the ball in hand. He has been able to get only a single wicket and has scored a total of 94 runs, 65 of which came in a single inning. With his national team too, he hasnât done particularly well, which pushed his name further up the aforementioned list.
This season, RCB has plenty of all-round options in their team, including the likes of Shivam Dube and Washington Sundar, who are not only capable enough to take Moeenâs place. Adding to that, they are Indian players, which would lead to the vacation of a spot for an overseas player in the playing XI and Virat Kohli, the captain of the team would use it to its full effect.
3. Saurabh Tiwary

The left-handed, long-haired explosive middle-order batsman from the state of one of the greatest players in cricket, MS Dhoni, Saurabh Tiwary could be the player that his IPL franchise, Mumbai Indians decides to loan out to another franchise if the need be.
The 30-year-old has been a part of many franchises in the past and his performances are the reason for this. And, this season too, that very factor could see him changing jerseys for yet another time. His performances in the domestic circuits were promising enough to cause the Mumbai Indians to retain him, but that would not be enough for him to be safe from the transfers that might take in the middle of this yearâs tournament.
Mumbai Indians have plenty of better options to play in the middle order, which is the place where Tiwary bats when in the team. There are players like Keiron Pollard, Ishan Kishan and the captain of the team himself, Rohit Sharma, in the middle order, blocking out any other playerâs inclusion here. So, if Mumbai Indians decides to loan out a player, it would be Tiwaryâs name that would pop up.
4. Shahbaz Nadeem

The player who has been sweating it out in the domestic circuit for quite some years now, but is still to find the amount of recognition that he deserves. Having been a part of 64 IPL matches now, Shahbaz Nadeem has amassed a lot of experience in this tournament too and is all set to be a part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad dressing room for the 2020 edition of IPL. But, he could be seen in some other jersey too, because of the inter-team loan policy that will be put into effect this season.
Nadeem recently played a Test match for the Indian team, filling in for the injured Kuldeep Yadav, and this made him eligible for a possible transfer during the midst of the this yearâs tournament. The Sunrisers Hyderabadâs management will be starting off with the best of their playing XI and owing to the presence of big names like Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan, Nadeem is unlikely to get a spot in the first half of the tournament, after which the loan window would open.
The Sunrisers management, with experienced players playing for the team, could loan out a player if asked to. And, if this happens, Nadeem could very well be the one packing his bags to join another dressing room.
5. Mohammed Siraj

Mohammed Siraj, when he came into the tournament, showed a lot of promise and this led to an exponential rise in his popularity among the fraternity. But, as time passed, expensive overs and inconsistent bowling led to his downfall in the popularity and preference charts for both the fans and the team that he is a part of.
Sirajâs journey in the cricket has been quite eventful. Especially the Indian Premier League has both the best and the worst of him in the short period of time that he has been playing in it. In his debut season in 2017, he bowled 23 overs and got 10 wickets under his belt.
The following season saw the pressure of such an intense tournament taking over his edge that made him special. In the 2018 and 2019 season, he bowled over 60 overs and was able to manage to get 18 wickets. His economy has also been a point of concern for his captain. In a format like T20 cricket, he has had an economy rate of 9.22, 8.95 and 9.55 in the 2017, 2018 and 2019 season respectively.
All of this coupled with the entry of players like Shivam Dube and Isuru Udana who have been doing really well in the last few months could become the reason for Siraj having to join another team in the middle of the season if the franchise decides to loan out players to other teams.
