The advent of T20 cricket has led to the mushrooming of several T20 leagues around the world. There is cricket’s biggest cash cow, the Indian Premier League (IPL) that gives the BCCI massive revenue every year. Apart from the IPL, there are several T20 leagues around the world like the Big Bash League (BBL), the Lanka Premier League (LPL), the Pakistan Super League(PSL), as well as the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
Players from around the world ply their trade featuring in various T20 leagues all across the globe. And, they provide riveting cricketing action to the viewers. Also, there have been several instances where these players have used the kits of one T20 league in other tournaments as well.
In this article, let us have a look at 5 players who used kits of one T20 league in other tournaments
5. Andre Russell

He is a man whose power hitting is matched by very few batsmen in modern-day cricket. He can decimate any bowling attack and give sleepless nights to the opposition captain. He is also a man who can hurl the ball at pace and create questions in the mind of the batsman. And, he is also one of the most athletic fielders as well. Andre Russell is an asset for whichever team he plays.
The West Indian has been a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) side since the 2014 IPL edition. In the 2020 edition of the IPL though, the all-rounder could not set the stage on fire. The right-hander could manage to score only 117 runs in the 13th IPL edition at an abysmal average of just 13.00.
Russell was recently seen sporting his KKR gloves for the Colombo Kings in the game against Galle Gladiators in the Lanka Premier League. Wearing his KKR gloves, Russell smashed a murderous 19-ball 65 to enable his side to wallop the Galle Gladiators by 34 runs.
4. Samit Patel

Another man who was seen sporting the jersey of one league in another is Samit Patel. The England spinner played 18 T20Is for England and picked up 7 wickets. In fact, the last time he played a T20I for his country was way back in the year 2013.
Patel is a part of the Dambulla Viiking side in the 2020 edition of the Lankan Premier League and was seen sporting his Lahore Qalanders jersey in one of the practice sessions of the Dambulla side. Patel picked up a total of 10 wickets in the Pakistan Super League this year.
In the Lankan Premier League, Patel blasted a 38 ball 58 in the first game to help the Dambulla side to beat the Kandy Tuskers in a humdinger of a clash by 4 runs.
3. Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya is a man who can change the tide of a match in a jiffy. Blessed with supreme hand-eye coordination, Hardik is known for his ability to clear the fence with ease. The all-rounder has been a part of the Mumbai Indians (MI) franchise from the 2015 edition of the League and played a key role in the side becoming the most dominant IPL side ever.
Pandya has scored 1349 runs in his IPL career and has scored them at an impressive strike rate of 159.27. Pandya has also picked up 42 wickets in his IPL career. In the year 2017, Pandya was seen wearing his MI gloves in an ODI against Australia. The right-hander scored a blazing 66 ball 83 in that game against the kangaroos and helped India win the match by a margin of 26 runs.
The Indian all-rounder is currently in Australia for a limited-overs series against the hosts, consisting of 3 ODI’s and 3 T20Is.
2. Imran Tahir

He is famous for his celebratory run every time he picks up a wicket. And, he is another cricketer who has featured in several T20 leagues in the world. Imran Tahir has played 58 matches in the IPL and has picked up 80 wickets. Tahir has offered his services for Delhi Capitals and the Rising Pune SuperGiant outfits in the past and is currently a part of the Chennai Super Kings side in the IPL.
The leg spinner was recently seen sporting his CSK headband in the Pakistan Super League in the match between Lahore Qalanders and Multan Sultans. The South African went for 30 runs in his 4 overs in the game as the Qalanders beat their opposition by 25 runs in the second Eliminator.
Tahir picked up a total of 11 wickets in the PSL this year. As far as the IPL is concerned, Tahir played 3 matches in the 13th edition of the IPL, and picked up just a single wicket.
1. Sherfane Rutherford

22-year-old Sherfane Rutherford was also seen sporting his IPL gear in the PSL. The West Indian left-hander was seen wearing his Mumbai Indians gloves when he turned out for the Karachi Kings in the match against Multan Sultans.
Rutherford could manage to score just 1 run in the game as the match ended in a tie. In the Super Over though, the left-hander redeemed himself and smashed Sohail Tanvir for a four and six off consecutive deliveries to help his side to beat the Multan Sultans.
In the 2020 edition of the IPL, Rutherford could not play even a single game for the Mumbai side as they had a settled opening combination in Quinton De Kock and skipper Rohit Sharma. However, Rutherford can take solace from the fact that he was a part of two victorious T20 teams in the same year. Rutherford has played 7 matches in the IPL and scored 73 runs.
