With his analyst cap on, former Indian opener Aakash Chopra is back again with his expert advice for Sunrisers Hyderabad this time. Chopra has picked the players that SRH should either retain or use RTM card to save them in IPL 2021 auction. A mega auction is proposed ahead of IPL 2021, and many significant changes can be seen on the table of different franchises. He also added that SRH should be back with the same fighting spirit as they displayed in the 2021 edition.
He made his observations on the YouTube channel and added that youngsters of the Orange Army should add little more of the contribution from their ends. The likes of Priyam Garg, Abdul Samad, and Abhishek Sharma should get significant things for the team. He added that Orange Army cannot get a backup plan for ace pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar as they don’t have any open slot left for overseas players.
“They cannot get a backup for Bhuvi. They cannot get a foreign bowler also as their overseas players have done well, and you can play four of them only. Jason Holder and Rashid Khan have done well. They have not been able to play Nabi, Billy Stanlake was sitting out. So there is not much scope of a change.”
Talking about players to be retained, Chopra added that skipper David Warner, and star spinner Rashid Khan should be retained at any cost. Also, the franchise should use their RTM on Bhuvneshwar and T Natarajan.
Warner and Rashid Khan will be my first two picks: Aakash Chopra
“Warner and Rashid Khan will be my first two picks whom I will like to retain for sure. After that, I will look towards Bhuvi and Natarajan, I will retain one of them for sure with a Right to Match card for the other.”
Chopra added that Hyderabad should also try to retain the services of Manish Pandey and Kane Williamson. He concluded that Warner and Rashid should definitely be retained, and a tough call has to be made between Jonny Bairstow, Jason Holder, and Kane Williamson. It will all depend on how they manage their overseas slots to come up with the best action in IPL 2021.
