The second and final Test between New Zealand and Pakistan commenced on Sunday at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch. After being put in to bat first, the visitors batted decently to end the innings and day on 297 all-out after batting for 83.5 overs. Azhar Ali led the way with his 93-run knock while the skipper Mohammad Rizwan also notched up another half-century.
But it was Naseem Shah who hogged the limelight at the end of the day not for his skills with the bat. It all happened before the start of the 83rd over when he was suggesting number 11 batsman Mohammad Abbas to give him a quick single so that he can score a few more runs.
However, the way he conveyed the message to his partner in Hindi was extremely funny and the comments were caught on the stump mic. Naseem Shah hilariously told Abbas that all the responsibility is on him to score runs and advised him to take a single somehow. Interestingly, he also went on to add, Abbas will be on the receiving end of the backlash from the management if he doesn’t give him strike soon.
“Abbas bhai, Abbas bhai, aapko pata bhi hai sari zimedaari mere uper hai. Single karna hai warna daant par jayegi,” Naseem said. (The above statement translates to – Abbas brother, you know all the onus is on me now. You have to take a single else you will get scolded in dressing room).

Pakistan post a competitive total on the board
As far as the day’s play is concerned, Pakistan got bowled out just at the stroke of stumps after scoring 297 runs with Trent Boult picking the last two wickets. Earlier, it was Kyle Jamieson who bowled superbly to skittle four wickets of the visiting team. Tim Southee was the first to be amongst the wickets as he sent back Shan Masood for an 8-ball duck.
Abid Ali and Azhar Ali then stitched a 62-run stand for the second before Jamieson came and reduced Pakistan from 66/1 to 83/4. He dismissed Abid, Haris Sohail and Fawad Alam. Once again though Rizwan came up trumps playing his shots and rode his luck at times as well. His quick-fire 61 off 71 helped the tourists come back in the game while Azhar Ali played his usual way. He was unlucky not to get to his ton and Pakistan got bundled out soon after he got out.
