The Group B match of the Under-19s Asia Cup 2019 will be played between Sri Lanka Under-19s and Bangladesh Under-19s at the Tyronne Fernando Stadium in Moratuwa.
The match starts at 9:30 AM local time (4:00 AM GMT) (9:30 AM IST).
As expected, both Sri Lanka and Bangladesh qualified for the semi-finals from Group B defeating both Nepal and United Arab Emirates (UAE). Nepal looked like a threat in this group but they could only make a difference in the margin of victories. Ahead of the knockouts, Bangladesh will take on the Lankans in Moratuwa. This will serve as a perfect warm-up before facing strong teams like Afghanistan and India.
The winning side will face Afghanistan and losing team takes on India in the semi-final. Neither of India and Afghanistan can be differentiated and hence this result wouldn’t make a difference to tournament’s future. Hence, the Group B sides would look to tighten their combinations and rectify weaknesses. Bangladesh did struggle against Nepal in the last game and will expect to come up with an improved show.
Showers are expected throughout the matchday in Moratuwa. The two matches at this venue went without any rain interruptions which might change on Tuesday.
The Tyronne Fernando Stadium in Moratuwa hosted two matches in the tournament and both have witnessed 300+ totals. Given the firepower and batting strengths of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, another high-scoring match is expected. Anything less than 500 runs are not expected during this game.
Average first innings score: 267 (Youth ODI matches since 2016)
