The demise of Rashid’s mother comes less than two years after his father’s death. The Afghan spinner’s father had passed away in December 2018, when he was plying his trade in Australia’s Big Bash League while representing Adelaide Strikers. He had even braced the field in the match against Brisbane Heat, a day after his father’s demise.
Rashid was set to don the Sunrisers Hyderabad jersey in the thirteenth edition of the IPL. However, the tournament was indefinitely postponed in the wake of COVID-19 debacle. However, there are reports that it might be hosted in the latter stage of the year.
Rashid’s journey in the cash-rich league has been impressive as the leg-spinner has scalped 55 wickets in 46 matches with best figures of 3/19. While donning the national jersey in 4 Tests, 71 ODIs and 48 T20Is, the leg-spinner has plucked 23, 133 and 89 wickets respectively.
