MS Dhoni has always been compared to a lot of cricketing legends. Throughout his long and momentous career, the cricketer has invariably received tremendous warmth from his loyal fans but the existence of criticism has also been equally there. The wicketkeeper announced his arrival in cricket with great flamboyance and an attacking manner. It led to a long lasted comparison with arguably the most attacking keeper-batsman Adam Gilchrist.

Dhoni also admired the former Australian wicketkeeper for his attacking style and mentioned that Gilchrist has been one of the inspirations for him. The left-hander has also joined the long list of players who congratulated the Ranchi lad on his extraordinary career. The former wicketkeeper applauded the calmness that the right-hander maintained during his career with gifted attacking style and flamboyance.

Nobody wanted to acknowledge that the nightmare has finally come true

Earlier on Saturday, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the most successful captain of India announced his retirement from international cricket. The stumper ceased the long argument of the wicketkeeper of India when he debuted in 2004. The 23-year-old solved a 5-year-old mystery or finding the next wicketkeeper after Nayan Mongia and became one of the greatest of all time. His impact can be judged by the fact that if an all-time eleven of India is picked for any format, Dhoni’s name is perpetually written there.

The veteran cricketer didn’t play any game for more than a year after he was not able to take India over the line in World Cup semi-final in 2019. The speculation for the 39-year-old’s retirement was there in the market since then only. Still, nobody wanted to acknowledge that the nightmare has finally come true.

Arguably the greatest finisher the game has ever seen will next be seen during the Indian Premier League. He will be seen leading the yellow army, Chennai Super Kings in the pinnacle T20 league which is going to kick off on 19th September.
