Kirti Azad wishes Sourav Ganguly good health
As the news of Sourav Ganguly suffering a mild cardiac arrest had surfaced on social media, the cricketer received a lot of good health and speedy recovery wishes from the former and current players, cricket enthusiasts, and the office bearers of BCCI. Former Indian cricketer and 1983 World Cup winner Kirti Azad also took to his official Twitter handle to wish the BCCI president good health.
However, the cricketer turned politician didn’t fail to capitalize on this opportunity to take a veiled dig at the former Indian captain and his choice of brand endorsements. Azad tweeted, “Dada @SGanguly99 get well soon. Always promote tested and tried products. Be Self conscious and careful. God bless.”

Notably, Ganguly features in a cooking oil advertisement, which is said to be very good for consumers’ hearts. Thus, Kirti Azad targeted that company while wishing Ganguly. ‘Fortune Rice Bran Cooking Oil brand, promoted by Ganguly is manufactured by Adani Wilmar Ltd, owned by Indian billionaire Gautam Adani.
Adani has close allies with Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) while Kirti Azad is a member of the Indian National Congress along with his wife Poonam. Therefore, with his tweet, Kirti, who has played 7 Tests and 25 ODIs for India between 1980 and 1986, took a jibe at his political rival Adani Group.
