The just-concluded pink-ball Test between India and England at the newly-built Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium can be considered as one of the most bizarre Test matches of recent times as it ended within two days with the hosts scripting a marvelous victory by a massive 10 wickets to take a 2-1 lead in the four-match Test series.
The two-day Test match between the two nations was marred with controversies as the pitch that produced uneven bounce and started turning from the very first day raised a lot of eyebrows in the cricket fraternity. The bowlers ruled the show in Ahmedabad as 30 wickets were scalped within two days.
Rohit Sharma and Zak Crawley were the only batsmen from both sides who delivered at par performances with the willow. Rohit played a sublime knock of 66 runs in India’s first innings followed by an unbeaten 25 in the second innings to guide India to victory. Crawley, on the other hand, was the only batter from the visitors’ camp to smash a half-century.
Rohit Sharma takes an indirect dig at trollers
The underwhelming performance by the batsmen from both sides resulted in many former English cricketers and cricket pundits slamming the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for making the pitch suitable for the home team. Michael Vaughan, Alastair Cook, and Andrew Strauss were among the first ones to draw strong criticism for the Ahmedabad pitch.
In the meantime, Rohit, who opens the batting for Team India across all the formats, gave a glimpse of his witty side as he took an indirect dig at cricket pundits and former cricketers of the game for starting an unwanted debate about the pitch at the world’s largest cricket stadium. The batsman took to his official Instagram handle on Sunday, February 28 to post a picture of him lazing around on the cricket field.
Meanwhile, it was the caption that stole all the limelight. Rohit captioned his post, “Wondering what the pitch would be like for 4th test”

Rohit’s wife Ritika Sajdeh, also took note of Rohit’s post and in turn trolled him for passing his time on the field instead of practicing for the game. “And you make fun of me for lazing around like this,” Ritika left a note-worthy comment on Rohit’s latest post.
