Suryakumar Yadav, the right-handed batsman from Mumbai has been knocking the doors of the national selectors for a while now. He has done seemingly well in the domestic circuit for his state team and his name has been in the spotlight due to his astonishing performances with the bat. He can anytime get his maiden call up from the national side. Now, the batsman has come up with the outside pressure that he is currently dealing with and just wants to get rid of it soon.
The Mumbai batsman has certainly emerged as the rising cricketer across the country. In the last four to five years, he has established his place in his state team and has become an important player. He has been scoring runs and certainly, Yadav has brought a drastic transformation in his game because of which he has tasted success in the Indian Premier League while playing for franchises like Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians. In this season of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he mustered 392 runs at an average of 56 with four half-centuries. Also, he ended as the leading run-scorer of Mumbai in the prestigious tournament.
Suryakumar Yadav is finding it difficult to control his anxiety
Suryakumar Yadav, recently in an interview, told that he has never experienced such a situation in his life. However, he had heard about it from his team-mates, who played for the national team. He added the fact that the anxiousness of being so close to playing for Team India is quite tough to explain in words. Now, he just wants to get rid of such a situation as soon as possible.
He also recited that everyone like the waiter, the driver, watchman, milkman, lift wall, kids in his society come and tell him that he will soon play for Team India. And, in the end, he just says thanks to them for their kind wishes. Such things usually affect the player’s thought process and sometimes players get carried away. However, he tries to keep himself calm and divert his focus towards other things but the brain automatically starts thinking about the same.
“I have never gone through such a thing in life about the India selection thing. I have heard from team-mates who played for India, that the anxiety of being so near to playing for India is hard to explain. It’s the first time I am dealing with it and I just want it to get over soon. Get back to my normal life.”
“The other day I was seated in this same restaurant and finished my dinner, I was on my way out when an old man came running and asked, ‘Are you, Suryakumar Yadav?’ I said, yes. ‘I’m watching your batting; you will soon play for India’. It’s a routine now. The waiter, the driver, watchman, milkman, lift wall, kids who play down in my building, are all telling me this. I just say thank you but it’s tough now to get over it,” Suryakumar Yadav told Indian Express.
