India and England are up against each other in the ongoing pink-ball Test i.e third Test of the four-match series at the renovated Narendra Modi Stadium. This is an important game for both nations considering that the marquee Test series is leveled at 1-1 and will decide the finalists of the inaugural edition of the World Test Championship, who will play against New Zealand at Lord’s in June 2021.
The two teams entered the contest with their potentially best XIs. Coming into the day-night Test, India made as many as two changes in their squad as they replaced Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Siraj with Washington Sundar and Jasprit Bumrah respectively. England, on the other hand, have four changes in their playing XI as James Anderson, Jofra Archer, Jonny Bairstow and Zak Crawley made a comeback in the team.
The toss went in the favour of visiting skipper Joe Root and he elected to bat first. Seeing England winning the toss, renowned cricket commentator and former England international player Kevin Pietersen didn’t fail to take a dig at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and other authorities for making the pitches more suitable for the home team in the Test series thus far.
Taking to his official Twitter handle, Pietersen took a jibe at India saying that he hopes that the pitch in Ahmedabad will not favour the team who wins the toss and elects to bat first. “Oops india , asha karta hoon ki yeh, toss jeeto match jeeto wala wicket na ho,” the veteran tweeted.

Kevin Pietersen had criticised the Chennai pitch during the second Test match
The pitch has been the focal point of discussion in the four-match Test series between India and England thus far. The first two Tests of the series were played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai where the team batting first won the game as the pitch offered great support to the batsmen till Day 2. Many veteran England players and analysts had criticized Team India for making spin-friendly wickets.
After India racked up a massive total of 329 runs on the board in the second Test while batting first, Kevin Pietersen was one among the few to lambast the home team for the condition of the pitch in Chennai.
Kevin had tweeted, “Such a brave wicket to prepare for a Test match IN India when India are down in the series. If India had lost the toss, they’d have gone down 2-0. Very very brave! Well tossed, @imVkohli”
