Pakistan’s limited-overs skipper Babar Azam has been finding himself in a lot of controversies these days. It was only a few days back, he was being questioned for playing with a slow strike-rate when teammate Kamran Akmal backed him. Coming up with another piece of advice is Pakistan skipper Mohammad Hafeez who feels that Azam should show up in the middle-order to have experience of different things.
Hafeez opines that in their upcoming series against Zimbabwe, Pakistan team management should give chance to some youngsters. A new opening pair should be tried up so as to give exposure to some cricketers of domestic circuit. They may do great for the team, and the chance will open their future prospects in this manner.
“I think in the upcoming series against Zimbabwe, we should try a new opening pair. I believe Babar should come lower down the order,” said Hafeez as quoted by Geo News.
The Zimbabwe team is set to tour Pakistan in the month of October, where the two nations will lock horns for three T20Is and as many ODIs. Hafeez feels that it is the right opportunity where they can let their juniors come in front, and seniors can be given rest. “This kind of series is a perfect opportunity to test your bench strength and give rest to seniors, added Hafeez.
Zimbabwe tour of Pakistan to take place at two locations
As per the latest reports, Pakistan Cricket Board’s Chief Executive Officer Wasim Khan has confirmed that the series against Zimbabwe will be divided to take place at two venues, namely Rawalpindi and Multan. The three-match ODI series will set the action in Multan, whereas the T20s will be held in Rawalpindi.
The Men in Green have just returned from England after playing a three-match Test and T20I series against hosts. Seeing their dismal performance on the English soil, many veterans from their nation started pointing fingers on them. While some said they lacked confidence as a team, some said the skippers are not their playing role well. Pakistan lost the Test series against England and tried its level best to draw the recently-concluded T20I series.
