David Warner, the left-handed opener played a record-breaking knock in Adelaide. Following Warner’s heroics, the lethal trio of Josh Hazelwood, Michell Starc and Patt Cummins bowled at their best against the visitors. But, one player, who played the pacers in an elegant fashion was Babar Azam. He played some strokes on Day 2 that were mesmerising to watch for any cricket enthusiasts.
In the initial sessions of Day 2, Pakistan bowlers failed to take wickets and allowed Aussie batters to pile mammoth total of 589 runs. It included fascinating knocks from David Warner (335*) and Marnus Labuschagne (162). However, the nightmare for the visitors’ batsmen continued. They were clueless about how to face the fast bowling attack of Australia and got out playing some silly shots. However, they got criticised by former cricketer Wasim Akram on air during the game.
Babar Azam plays mesmerizing strokes in his knock of 97 runs in Adelaide
Babar Azam started from where he left in the previous game. He scored a brilliant century in the second inning in Brisbane and carried his form into the 2nd Test as well. He looked sensational with the bat and proved all his critics wrong. Babar compelled his doubters to pave his way into the elite class of batsmen like Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson, Joe Root and Steve Smith.
The young Pakistan batsman was a treat to watch and some of his strokes were simply perfect. In an over bowled by Josh Hazelwood, he played a fascinating cover drive on a full-length delivery and dispatched the ball for a boundary. It was an effortless stroke that unleashed the ball to the ropes bisecting the off-side.
Coming on Day 3, he confidently carried on with his innings and was well supported by Yasir Shah from the other hand. However, Babar missed his second century by three runs when he was brilliantly caught by Tim Paine behind the stumps off Michell Starc. Afterwards, Yasir scored his first test ton and it seemingly turned out to be frustrating for the Aussie bowlers, who had to work hard to dismiss the tail of Pakistan.
