India skipper Virat Kohli will be looking to guide his team to the first series win of the new year when he led the team in the third and final T20I against Sri Lanka on Friday. India have already taken an unassailable 1-0 lead in the series after winning the second game by seven wickets. The series-opener in Guwahati was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
India had come up with a clinical performance in the second game to see off Sri Lanka. Bowling first, the hosts had restricted Sri Lanka to a modest 142 for 9. Shardul Thakur and Navdeep Saini were the picks of the bowlers, scalping three and two wickets respectively. In reply, India chased down the total inside 18 overs with Virat Kohli remaining unbeaten on 30.
Kohli must have his eyes set on the upcoming game as he sweated it out on the field on the eve of the match. And after the training session, he took to Twitter to post a hilarious caption along with a picture of himself training in the nets. Comparing seeing the ball and a cheat meal of Chholle Bhature, he hilariously wrote:
“Ball out of the Bowlers hand and Chholle Bhature for a cheat meal deserve the same kind of focus. 👀😄”

Another milestone in sight for Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli will have a chance to achieve yet another milestone when he leads India in the upcoming third T20I. The right-handed batsman is just one run short of smashing 11,000 international runs as captain. Thus, the Indian skipper only needs to open his account and another captaincy record will automatically fall under his belt.
If he manages to avoid getting out on a duck, he can join his teammate and predecessor MS Dhoni in the elite list. So far, only five captains have managed to achieve the record in international cricket. The other captains to have achieved this feat of scoring 11,000 or more runs as international captains are Alan Border, Ricky Ponting, Graeme Smith, Stephen Fleming and Dhoni.
With form on his side, Virat Kohli will be definitely backing himself to achieve the milestone. In India’s last T20I series assignment which was against West Indies, he had finished the series as the highest run-scorer. Kohli had scored two fifties including a career-best 94 not out during that series.
