Match Preview for Dream11 Fantasy
So, here it is! After seven weeks of heart-pumping action, Brobdingnagian sixes, gobsmacking strokeplay, breathtaking bowling spells, humdingers, upsets and some damp squibs, we are finally down to the business end of the Big Bash League.
The playoffs will kick off with the 4th placed Hobart Hurricanes and 5th placed Sydney Thunder locking horns in the eliminator in Hobart. The winner of the game will face off against Adelaide Strikers in the Knockout fixture on February 01 while the loser’s campaign will come to an abrupt end.
The Hurricanes sealed their place into the playoffs courtesy three back-to-back wins in their last three league-stage encounters; the last of which came against Adelaide Strikers thanks to a whirlwind 203-run-stand between Matthew Wade [130*] and D’Arcy Short . Thunder, on the other hand, come into this game on the back of a seven-wicket win over Perth Scorchers and they will be looking to avenge the 57-run defeat that they suffered at the hands of the Hurricanes.
It is expected to be a bright and sunny day in Hobart on Thursday. According to the weather report, Hobart is set to be bathed with sunshine throughout the day. While the temperature is set to be between 22 and 31 degrees Celsius, the humidity is set to hover around 29%. Chances of rain- 10%.
The pitch at Hobart has dished out high-scoring belters. The last three games have seen the first innings score of 3-212,7-175 and 6-185. That said, chasing has proved to be incredibly difficult as sides have lost by margins of 31, 77 and 57 runs respectively. Both sides will look to bat first in the all-important fixture tomorrow.
Average first innings score:– 190 [In the last 3 completed games at the venue this season]
Record of chasing teams: Won – 0, Lost – 3

Hobart Hurricanes- The trio of Matthew Wade, D’Arcy Short and Mac Wright have been the bedrock of Hurricanes batting unit in the past few games, and they will once again be the key to their fortunes in the all-important eliminator. As far as bowling is concerned, Clive Rose and Nathan Ellis will be the key.
Sydney Thunder: Once again, Alex Hales will be the key to Thunder batting unit but he will hope that the likes of Usman Khawaja, Calum Ferguson come to the party. Daniel Sams and Chris Morris could turn out to be x-factors while Jonathan Cook and Brendon Doggett will lead the bowling unit.

Hobart Hurricanes bowling hasn’t been up to scratch in the tournament thus far. Hence it will be prudent to pick more batters than bowlers from their line-up. Another good choice for the captain/vice-captain slot can be Daniel Sams and Chris Morris, considering they can contribute with both bat and ball.
Hobart Hurricanes are expected to come out as the winners.
