The Melbourne Stars have made an incredible start to the 2019-20 edition of the Big Bash League (BBL). Having won their first two matches, Glenn Maxwell and Co are placed second on the points table with a net run rate of +1.850, the best among the eight teams. In their previous encounter, the Stars defeated the Hobart Hurricanes by 52 runs and are in a positive frame of mind.
The Stars are set to lock horns with the Adelaide Strikers in their next encounter at the Carrara Oval in Queensland. The Strikers batters did well in their first match against table-toppers Sydney Thunder, though the game didn’t produce a result. Alex Carey’s men beat the Perth Scorchers by 15 runs (DLS) method after their batsmen put up a mammoth 198 in 18 overs in the ran-curtailed game.
The pitch at the Carrara Oval has been a good one for batting. But the deck has tended to slow down a wee bit in the second half and spinners are likely to come into play. Both teams have won their games while batting first and are likely to bat first after winning the toss. There are chances of rain in the morning at around 9 AM, but not during game time. The temperature will be around 23 degrees Celsius.
Dale Steyn and Nathan Coulter-Nile have been named in the 13-man squad for the match. Surprisingly, Haris Rauf, who got a fifer, has been dropped. Rauf was earlier roped in as Steyn’s replacement as the latter was recovering off a side strain. Stoinis and Maxwell have dominated the batting. Their bowling has been excellent due to which they have defended scores the last two times.

Jake Weatherald and Alex Carey have topped the run-charts for the Strikers, having scored 125 and 100 runs respectively. Jonathan Wells also has a knock of 55* under his belt. Even Matthew Short has looked in good rhythm. The team has to sort their bowling out as it has been taken to the cleaners a wee bit. The likes of Rashid Khan and Billy Stanlake have to bring forth their experience.
