Brisbane Heat moved on to 3rd place in the points tally with a 5-wicket win over the Hobart Hurricanes at the Gabba. Skipper Matthew Wade was a standalone performer with the bat for the visitors with a 46-ball 61. No other player even got to double digits in the top six and were limited to just 126/8. Chasing a low total, the Brisbane team collapsed to 72/5 from 52/1 in space of 25 balls. However, Ben Cutting’s unbeaten 29-ball 43 along with Jimmy Pierson (23* off 25) helped Heat to chase down with 10 balls to spare.

Heat completes double against Hurricanes:

1 – For the first time, the Brisbane Heat has defeated Hobart Hurricanes twice in a Big Bash season. They won the last week’s match at the Hobart by 31 runs. This was also the first time that Brisbane defeated Hurricanes in consecutive BBL matches.

Prior to this season, the Heat won only four of their 14 BBL matches against the Hurricanes and lost all the four matches played across 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons.

A low-scoring game at the Gabba:

257 – The 257 runs aggregated by Heat and Hurricanes in this match are the 2nd fewest match aggregate in a Big Bash League at the Gabba (Excl. unaffected matches). The 2012-13 season match between Sixers and Heat aggregated only 255 runs as the Sixers made 128/5 in 19 overs in reply to Heat’s 127/9.

2 – Ben Cutting became only the 2nd player in the Big Bash League history to score 30+ runs, claimed 3+ catches and take at least one wicket in the same match. In the last season match against Sydney Thunder, Sean Abbott scored 35 runs, took 3 catches and had figures of 1/48 for the Sixers.

Wade’s lone effort with the bat:

3 – Matthew Wade became only the 3rd player to score a fifty in a BBL inning while batting in top 6 despite the remaining five batters in the top six were dismissed in single digits.

In the 2012-13 season, Usman Khawaja scored an unbeaten 66 for the Thunder against Sixers while batting at No.4 while George Bailey finished with an unbeaten 62 for Hurricanes against Sixers in 2015-16 edition where the remaining ten players in the inning were dismissed for 5 or fewer runs.

3/16 – Scott Boland’s bowling figures of 3/16 are the best for any player in BBL matches between Brisbane Heat and Hobart Hurricanes. Boland bettered Cameron Boyce’s figures of 3/21 in the 2013-14 season for the Hurricanes.
