The T20 format has not only evolved the batting and bowling skills but also the fielding skills, especially near the boundary ropes. Players coming up with breathtaking fielding efforts to save precious runs for their teams has now become common. In a format where a single run can change the complexion of the game, the players do all they could on the field to save as many runs as possible.
As a result, the fielding skill has really evolved. But despite the high standard of fielding in this era, some players come up with such an extraordinary effort that it takes everyone’s breath away. And Jordan Silk came up with a similar effort during the first game of Big Bash League 2020/21 between Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Sixers.
The Sixers star made a stunning diving effort to save a certain six for his side. Colin Ingram must have thought he had hit a six when he pulled a short delivery from left-arm spinner Steve O’Keefe. But before the ball could land outside the rope, Jordan Silk made a full-length dive, caught the ball with one hand and released it back into play before falling outside the boundary.
Here is a video of that incredible save from Jordan Silk

Hobart Hurricanes post a big total
Talking about the match, Hobart Hurricanes have posted a total of 178 for 8 after Sixers skipper Peter Handscomb won the toss and invited them to bat first. The Hobart-based outfit were off to a disastrous start as their openers – Will Jacks and D’Arcy Short – fell for duck. A 55-run stand between Ingram and Handscomb steadied the ship before Sixers struck twice in quick time to reduce the Hurricanes to 76 for 4.
At one stage, it looked like the Hurricanes might end up on a below-par total. However, Ingram and Tim David scored fifties to propel their side to a good total. Ingram scored 55 off 42 balls while David scored 58 off 33 balls. For the Sixers, Ben Dwarshuis and Daniel Christian picked up three wickets each.
