Perth Scorchers firmed their 2nd position in the points table following a comfortable 22-run win against the Hobart Hurricanes on Friday. Scorchers kept losing wickets in the first half in the search of quick runs but was rescued by a 35-ball 58 from Josh Inglis. They eventually finished with 179/8 with help of a 14-ball 29 from Jhye Richardson towards the end. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, the Hurricanes kept the hunt alive but could only make 157/8 at the end.

He is also only the 3rd player with 25+ runs and 4+ wickets in a BBL match after Daniel Christian (Hurricanes vs Scorchers in 2017-18 – 37 & 4/17) and Marcus Stoinis (Stars vs Heat in 2018-19 – 43 & 4/21).
D’Arcy Short @ 2000 runs:
2008 – D’Arcy Short became the first player to amass 2000 runs in the BBL while playing for Hobart Hurricanes. D’Arcy is now the 7th player with 2000+ runs in the Big Bash League and the 2nd fastest to get there (55 innings) in terms of innings after Shaun Marsh (54 innings).
Mitch goes past Shaun:
1436 – With the seven runs scores during HUR vs SCO game, Mitchell Marsh became the highest run-getter in the BBL for the Perth Scorchers. In this process, Mitch went past his brother, Shaun Marsh’s tally of 1435 runs for the Scorchers.
Rare duck for McDermott in BBL:
1 – Ben McDermott bagged for a duck for the first time in the BBL while representing the Hobart Hurricanes. Coming into this game, McDermott scored 1518 runs across 51 innings without a duck for the Hurricanes. This was overall the 2nd duck in the BBL for McDermott with his first coming during the 2014 season while playing for Brisbane Heat.
Richardson only behind Sams:
25 – Jhye Richardson has grabbed 25 wickets in the BBL 2020-21 thus far which are the 2nd most by any player in a single edition of the Big Bash League. Daniel Sams lead the list with 30 wickets he claimed in the 2019-20 season for the Sydney Thunder.
2 – Jhye Richardson picked up two 4-wicket hauls in this season making him only the 5th player with multiple 4+ wicket hauls in a single edition of BBL. Sean Abbott (2016-17), Kane Richardson (2017-18 & 2019-20), Cameron Gannon (2013-14) and Andrew Tye (2016-17) are the other four players with this feat.
