The proliferation of the global pandemic coronavirus [COVID-19] has had a chastening impact on the world of sports. From Premier League to Olympics to La Liga to NBA, everything has been put on hold as the world goes under lockdown in a bid to avert the spread of the menacing virus.
With everything under a lockdown, sportsmen are forced to stay within the confines of their homes and are engaging themselves in a plethora of different activities. While the likes of Aaron Finch, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Shreyas Iyer are engaging the fans via a Q&A session on Twitter, Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzvendra Chahal are spending their time in gardening and making Tik-Tok videos respectively.
Contrary to all this, swashbuckling wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant is using this spare time to do indoor training. The social media handle of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a video of Pant doing the same. In the video, the southpaw can be seen doing planks before shifting to running on a treadmill followed by a few pushups.

This break has come at a prudent time for Rishabh Pant
Rishabh Pant has copped a lot of criticism in the past 12 months courtesy his lean run of form with the bat and also his under-par wicket-keeping skills. The southpaw, who is being touted as the rightful successor to MS Dhoni, has seen his stock plummet substantially in the past 6-8 months, with him losing his wicketkeeper slot to KL Rahul in white-ball cricket.
The youngster recently made his comeback to the Test side after having lost out to Wriddhiman Saha during the home season. Pant was preferred over Saha in the 2-match Test series against New Zealand where he endured another torrid session with the bat.
Recently, former Australian spinner Brad Hogg had reckoned that Pant would do well if he employs a mental conditioning coach. “Definitely, I turn on my television when Rishabh Pant comes to the crease, the entertainer. His issue is he has got too much talent to know what to do with. He could do with a mind coach, a lot of great sportsmen use them. It is all in the mind for him,” Hogg said.
