As the season of bilateral series is on, time is also nearing when India would host England for its home series. As per the latest reports, it has been emerging that the whole series would be staged across different venues in India only. It was earlier rumoured that seeing India’s COVID-19 situation, the series might shift to UAE. However, it has been cleared that the series would take place in India itself.
As per the latest reports, the cricketing boards of both nations are in the talk for conducting a full-fledged series. The series between India and England would comprise of four Tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is to be played in India. There we report that a single city could be chosen as a venue, but BCCI is planning for the full tour at different locations. One of the chosen stadiums for the high profile event would be the newly built Ahmedabad stadium.
The longest format of the game between India and England would take place in February, while the limited-overs series would kick off in March.
“England is touring India for four Test matches, three ODIs, and five T20Is. It is easier to have bilaterals than having eight-nine-ten teams, which gets difficult, but we have to keep assessing the situation. A lot of people are talking about the second Covid wave. We’re already hearing of cases being on the rise again in Mumbai and Delhi, so we have to be careful and make sure everything is in order,” said Ganguly as quoted by News18.
We’re very much trying to have next IPL in India: Ganguly
Ganguly also stated that BCCI is constantly working to host the series in India, but UAE would always be the ready backup venue. As UAE successfully hosted the IPL 2020 with all the stringent protocols in place, it will be the preferred venue. He also added that the next IPL is just five months away, and BCCI would be trying its very best to have it in India only.
“The next IPL is five months away, and we’re very much trying to have it in India. I always tell people that they need to be here to see what the IPL means to India. We’re also going to be hosting domestic cricket in India,” Ganguly concluded.
