The 2019-20 Bangladesh Premier League kickstarted on Wednesday when Chattogram Challengers squared off against Sylhet Thunder at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium in Dhaka. The Challengers kicked off their campaign in a whirlwind manner after they successfully chased down 163. But, unfortunately, it is not the exploits from either batsman or bowlers or fielders that became the talking point, highly entertaining opening encounter.
In fact, it is Krishmar Santokie’s shocking- even that is an understatement- wide and no-ball that he delivered while Sylhet Thunder’s defence of 163 runs. The incident happened during the second over of the Chattogram Challengers innings. On the second delivery, Santokie delivered what can be called a very very wide delivery down the leg-side. But, if that wasn’t enough, Santokie then proceeded to deliver a huge no-ball.

On what should have been the last delivery of the second over, Santokie bowled a no-ball. And, it wasn’t an ordinary one. It was a no-ball that would raise suspicion in your mind when they see the replays that the bowler overstepped the line by a good two or three foot.

Naturally, the footage shortly went viral on social media. Some of the fans were flabbergasted while others raised suspicion, even demanding an explanation from Krismar Santokie for the same. As far as the game was concerned, Chattogram Challengers managed to romp home after they successfully chased the total in 19 overs.
Chasing 163, the Challengers did not get off to the best to starts after Nazmul Hossain landed them a body-blow by prizing out Junaid Siddique (4) and Nasir Hossain on a golden duck. The matters accentuated further when Avishka Fernando (33) and Ryan Burl (3) left them reeling at 4-64.
However, Imrul Kayes (61 off 38 balls; 2 fours and five sixes) and West Indian tearaway wicketkeeper-batsman Chadwick Walton (49 off 30 balls; three fours and two sixes) ensured that they not only resurrected the fledgeling ship an 86-run-stand but also past the finishing line in the penultimate over. As for Santokie, he did claim the crucial wicket of Avishka Fernando and finished with 1-34.
