Sachin Tendulkar is the milestone when someone talks about centuries in international cricket. The Indian legend made 100 international tons in his 24-year cricket career which began with a duck in 1989 against Pakistan. Tendulkar struck 51 Test and 49 ODI centuries in his career, which is a record in both formats of the game.
However, Tendulkar also fell in the 90s a lot- a record 17 times in ODI cricket and 10 times in Test cricket. In fact, in the year 2007, Sachin made three scores of 99 in the limited-overs game. The Mumbaikar is famous equally for his centuries and the number of times he missed reaching the milestone in international encounters. However, fans think, if there was DRS during the peak of his career in the 1990s and early 2000s, Tendulkar may have ended with 10-15 more hundreds to his name.
Brad Hogg disagrees with a fan on Twitter
Former Australia chinaman spinner Brad Hogg was asked by a fan on Q&A on Twitter, whether DRS would have helped the Indian batting maestro earn a few more centuries to add to his already impressive tally of 100 tons. Tendulkar was given some iffy decisions by the umpires in the 1990s and 2000s.
The DRS came late in his career, but it saved him in the semi-finals of the 2011 World Cup against Pakistan when he was given out LBW, but DRS overturned the decision. The Indian cricketer went on to make 85 runs and helped India to a decent total. However, Saeed Ajmal still claims to this day that the Indian legend was out LBW.
The fan asked, “@Brad_Hogg Do you think that if DRS was available during the 90s then Sachin Tendulkar would have had 10-15 more international 100s in his name?? #HoggyTime”
To which Hogg replied that it wouldn’t have mattered much as DRS goes both ways. He would have gotten a few decisions on his side, while a few would have gone the other way. Hogg tweeted,” I reckon it would of been the same. DRS goes both ways, he would of won some and lost some with reviews.”
