The third Test between India and Australia has been gaining headlines for all the wrong reasons for the last two days. Mohammad Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah were subjected to racial slurs at the boundary line on day three of Sydney, and the trauma continued for Siraj even on day four. The players lodged a complaint against the same indecent actions to match referee David Boon, and CA has come up with the official statements on the same matter recently.
In the same line, a BCCI source (on conditions of anonymity) has revealed the particular words with which Siraj was continuously referred while he was fielding on the boundary line. A particular section of the crowd in SCG stands called the young pacer a ‘Brown Dog’ and ‘Big Monkey.’ Even after the complaint, the same action continued on day four, and during the 86th over, Siraj complained about the same to on-field umpires. A BCCI source has revealed what umpires told the Indian team after the complaint.
“Siraj was referred to as ‘Brown Dog’ and ‘Big Monkey’ both of which are racist slurs. The matter was immediately brought to the notice of on-field umpires. They were constantly abusing Bumrah too. Actually, the players didn’t want to lose focus during the proceedings and decided that the matter would be reported only after the day’s play was over. However, the umpires have told us that the moment anything of that nature happens, the players should report immediately,” said the BCCI source as quoted by Sportskeeda.
Mohammad Siraj was at the receiving end on day four of Sydney Test
After Siraj made the complaint, the New South Wales police took hold of the matter, and six suspected people were immediately evicted from SCG. They all are under the custody of New South Wales police, and further investigation is also on from ICC’s side. Cricket Australia has come up with the official statements that stated that serious actions would be taken against the alleged people, and they have offered their apologies to visitors on the same matter.
