Pat Cummins – The No.1 ranked Test bowler in the world- is the talk of the town! And, why wouldn’t he be? The champion fast bowler was the flavour of the recently held Indian Premier League auctions in Kolkata where he was racked up for a whopping Rs 15.5 Crores by the Kolkata Knight Riders.
As soon as the fast bowler’s name came up on the auction table, a serious bidding war ensued with Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore going hammer and tongs at each other, before finally, Kolkata Knight Riders made their presence felt and snapped the Australian for a record-breaking amount. Cummins has now become the highest-paid overseas cricketer in the history of the IPL.
So, what will he do with that sort of money? Cummins doesn’t really know. All he knows that his girlfriend, who wants him to buy a few more toys for their dog, has got her priority sorted.
“I don’t know [what to do with the money]. My girlfriend… the first thing she said was ‘we can buy the dog a couple more toys now’. She has got her priorities sorted. I will try my best not to change. Lucky, I have got good people around me. The boys in the team are great but also my family and friends. I still play cricket because I love it. I am really fortunate and grateful for everything that has happened,” Pat Cummins told the media in the pre-match conference for the upcoming Boxing Day Test.
Will Australia play five bowlers at the MCG? Pat Cummins keeps his cards close to his chest
Cummins is currently involved in the three-match Test series against the Trans-Tasman rivals, New Zealand. When asked whether Australia could go with a five-man bowling attack, considering the nature of the pitch at the MCG, the fast bowler didn’t give away much about his team’s strategy.
After having won the first Test by 296 runs, the home side will be looking to seal the series in Melbourne itself, when the Boxing Day Test gets underway on the 26th of December. David Warner, who was injured in the nets session, has been deemed fit for the game.
