The entire nation came up with a grand response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for a ‘Janta Curfew’ on Sunday to pay tribute to the heroes fighting the COVID-19 pandemic across the world. The disease has led over 13,000 losing their lives across the world and affecting over three lakh people.
In India, 360 people have been affected so far while seven lives have been lost. People across India came in their balconies to clap and ring bells and utensils to pay tribute to medical experts, doctors and nurses and others serving in the need of the hour.
Meanwhile, two Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises — Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Delhi Capitals (DC) were seen on social media applauding the heroes fighting to arrest the spread of coronavirus. The CSK shared a video of captain MS Dhoni and senior players Harbhajan Singh, Kedar Jadhav and Murali Vijay celebrating together while the DC released a video showing senior players like Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane and Ishant Sharma clapping to praise the efforts being put in by medical experts.
Let us all come together and appreciate the heroes, tweeted DC
The CSK captioned the video on Twitter saying: “Let’s show our appreciation to all those toiling night and day to keep us all alive, literally. Come let’s #WhistlePoduAt5!” The DC said in its video: “Let us all come together and give a round of applause to the heroes who are working in this pandemic in keeping the world safe! It’s time to let your cheers, echo out loud @narendramodi.”

PM Modi called for the ‘Janta Curfew’ on Thursday and it found a wholehearted response from the people. Streets and public places wore a deserted look as people stayed indoors for the curfew that was called for 14 hours starting 7 am.
The IPL 2020 has been deferred till April 15 because of the pandemic after it was scheduled to start originally on March 29. Cricket series and tournaments around the world have remained suspended because of the disease. In Pakistan, the Pakistan Super League was suspended as the semi-finals and finals were deferred indefinitely because of the curfew.
