India won the 3rd T20I against West Indies at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai by 67 runs. It also helped the hosts clinch the three-match series by 2-1. The Men in Blue gave commendable performances in every department and were simply at their best in the series decider.
When the hosts were asked to bat after the toss, fans were dubious if the Indian batsmen could post enough runs on the board that the bowlers can defend in absence of their premium pacer Jasprit Bumrah. The Indian batsmen came out with a perfect plan and executed it to perfection.
Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli steal the show at Wankhede Stadium
Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul opened the innings in the 3rd T20I for Team India and were on fire from the word go. The duo smashed the West Indian bowling all across the park. Both players got off the mark with an aggressive approach and stitched a brilliant partnership of 135 runs off 69 balls.
‘The Hitman’ played a swift knock of 71 runs off 34 balls with four boundaries and five sixes before he was dismissed by Kesrick Williams. However, it didn’t affect the momentum of Team India. Virat Kohli came out to bat on number four after Pant was dismissed on a duck.
The Indian skipper was in no mood to spare the opposition bowling unit and dismantled West Indies bowlers with his bat. Virat (70 off 29 balls) and Rahul (91 off 56 balls) established a partnership of 95 runs. The trio of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma arguably played at their best at Wankhede Stadium in the series decider. India posted a mammoth total of 240 runs on the back of big-hitting masterclass from Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli on posting.
Later on, the host’s bowlers did their job brilliantly and restricted West Indies on a score of 173 at a loss of eight wickets in stipulated 20 overs. The trio of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami and Deepak Chahar shared a total of six wickets between them in bowling. The visitor’s side suffered a major blow when Evin Lewis, the West Indian opener sustained an injury during the fielding that ruled him out of the match.
In the end, Team India won the last T20I series for the year 2019. Virat Kohli and Co will lock horns against the same opponent in the three-match ODI series that will begin from December 15.
After Team India’s emphatic win in Wankhede, Chennai Super Kings took to their Twitter handle to congratulate them but in a unique fashion. In the tweet, they found a connection between Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul masterclass with the bat and Indian Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan (SRK).
CSK shared a still that was captioned, “Chak De India ft. #SRK in a different ball game altogether! #Sharma #Rahul #Kohli #WhistlePodu #INDvWI,”
