This week has been stressful for the Pakistan cricket team. Before leaving for the England tour, several players were tested positive with the novel coronavirus. One of the players in that list was Mohammad Hafeez. While there was clarity regarding the test results of other players, a lot of mystery surrounded his test results.
Just a day after the reports of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was released, the veteran went through another test. This test was done privately from a different lab and he didn’t take any permission from the PCB. This new report suggested that he wasn’t positive of the COVID-19 infection. This didn’t go down well with the PCB officials and they warned him for breaching the testing protocols as well.
Cricketer turned commentator Aakash Chopra read about this incident and decided to gave his opinion on social media. He stated that confusion and Pakistan cricket go hand in hand and the latest incident is a perfect example of that. The former Indian opener put up a tweet which read, “Arey yaar….confusion is synonymous with Pakistan cricket but this is taking it to an all-new level. Positive, negative, positive…all in 72 hours.”

Mohammad Hafeez tested negative again
Meanwhile, the results of the second test of all the 10 players have officially come out and to everyone’s surprise, not only Mohammad Hafeez but five others’ report have come negative. Mohammad Hasnain, Shadab Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Rizwan and Wahab Riaz are those players apart from Hafeez who have been tested negative for COVID-19.
Kashif Bhatti, Haris Rauf, Haider Ali and Imran Khan have been tested positive again for the virus. It will be interesting to see what decision PCB takes about the players who are cleared now. Pakistan team is supposed to leave for England on June 28. They will be quarantined in Worcester for 14 days and will train there as well.
The team will play three Tests and three T20Is against the home team the schedule of which is expected to be finalised in the upcoming days. Before the series against Pakistan, England will also play another three-match Test series against West Indies from July 8.
