Trinbago Knight Riders kept their winning streak intact as captain Kieron Pollard smashed a 28-ball 72 with nine maximums against Barbados Tridents to help his team pull off a 2-wicket win during a last-over thriller. The Tridents finished with 148/7 in their 20 overs after scoring 41 runs in last 3.3 overs against a bowling attack without both Ali Khan and Dwayne Bravo.
Four of TKR’s top five were dismissed for single digits as they crawled to 62/5 in 12.4 overs. Skipper Pollard walked to bat with 87 runs needed from last 44 balls. The required rate climbed up to 16.5 by the 17th over when Pollard began to free his arms. In the next 20 balls, Pollard faced 15 deliveries and smashed 54 runs with seven sixes to ease the equation.

257.14 – Pollard’s batting strike rate of 257.14 during his 28-ball 72 is the 2nd highest in a CPL inning of 50+ runs for the Trinbago team. Darren Bravo had a strike rate of 261.11 during his unbeaten 36-ball 94 over the St Lucia franchise in 2018.
72 – Pollard’s 72-run knock is the lowest individual score in the CPL came while hitting nine or more sixes. Overall, Pollard’s innings is the joint 4th lowest score in Twenty20 cricket to include nine or more sixes. Riki Wessels smashed nine sixes during his 18-ball 55 during a T20 Blast match in 2018.
