Guyana Amazon Warriors registered their second straight win of the CPL 2020 as they clinched a 14-run win against the Jamaica Tallawahs. The Amazon Warriors raced to 50-run mark in only 4.5 overs but Mujeeb-ur-Rahman’s 3-wicket haul turned the game around. From there on, Guyana could only hit four boundaries and were restricted to 118. The Guyana skipper Chris Green’s smart work put Tallawahs into trouble who were reduced to 4/3. The slow bowlers of Guyana made it tough for Jamaica who made only 104/7 despite an unbeaten 52 off 37 from Andre Russell.
Here are all the statistical highlights from Guyana’s victory while defending a low total:
The lowest total defended in CPL:
118 – Guyana Amazon Warriors’ total of 118 is now the lowest total defended successfully in the history of CPL. The previous lowest total defended successfully in the league was 125/9 by Barbados Tridents against the Guyana Amazon Warriors in 2015.
In the 2014 season match, the Trinidad managed to tie their match against Guyana after posting only 118/8. The Amazon Warriors bagged two points from this game as they won Super Over by 11 runs.
104/7 – The total of 104/7 by Jamaica Tallawahs is now the lowest total by Tallawahs where they batted full 20 overs. It is also the lowest by a chasing team in the CPL history after batting full 20 overs. Four times in overall a team ended up with a total lower than 104/7 in CPL even after batting 20 overs.
Jamaica gets off to the worst start:
1 – Jamaica Tallawahs’ innings is the first in the history of CPL where both the openers bagged ducks. The top three of Tallawahs aggregated four runs which are the 3rd lowest by any team’s top three in a CPL match.

It is the first instance in the CPL where three different players bowled a maiden each in the same innings. This was also only the 2nd CPL where three players bowled a maiden over apiece. Dwayne Bravo and Samuel Badree for Trinidad and Devendra Bishoo for Guyana bowled a maiden each during their faceoff in the 2015 season at the Queen’s Park Oval.
Ashmead starts with an economical spell:

(Min: 4 overs) No player before Nedd has conceded less than 12 runs after bowling four overs on CPL debut. The game against Jamaica Tallawahs is also Nedd’s debut in the Twenty20 format.
An innings of boundaries from Russell:
88.46 % – Andre Russell scored 46 of his 52 runs through boundaries by hitting four fours and five maximums. The 88.46 % is the 4th highest proportion of runs that Russell scored in boundaries during a fifty-plus knock in the T20 format.
