Cricket Australia is dealt with a major financial hit due to the Coronavirus outbreak as all the cricketing activities have come down to a halt. And, they have approached its sponsor Woolworths Supermarket to offer temporary jobs to their staff until the end of June.
Amid Coronavirus, the cricket associations have suffered a setback after the tournaments and series got postponed for an indefinite period. The cricket boards are going through financial crisis as they are left with no means of generating revenues. Cricket Australia is one those that have suffered major losses due to the outbreak.
Kevin Roberts says he wrote a letter to his sponsor
Kevin Roberts, CEO of CA said that he wrote a letter to Brad Banducci the CEO of Woolworths as they are in currently in need of more staff members. As per him, there are many people from their team, who are working on temporary jobs with some of the industries and organizations that need people at the moment.
“I wrote to Brad Banducci the CEO of Woolworths given that Woolworths is among organisations that need more staff at the moment. Our people and culture team are also working with other organisations who are in the habit of placing people in organisations and industries that have a temporary need for more people, “CA chief executive Kevin Roberts was quoted as saying by ‘SEN Radio’.
Kevin Roberts recited the fact that the revenue from ticket sales is around 50 million dollars. However, due to pandemic, if they will be forced to play home season behind the closed doors, then their revenue will be majorly hit in the future. So looking forward to the current conditions, they are working hard to provide a source of earning to their people after their income got reduced from cricket according to Kevin Roberts.
“Our revenue from ticket sales you could put a ring around 40-50 million Australian dollars depending on the season. So that is significant obviously, and something that goes into our planning. The other side of that coin is certainly that we’re supporting our people and looking for even temporary opportunities for them to be involved and earning income elsewhere when their income is reduced from cricket,” he explained.
