There has been a constant rise in the price of fuel in India with petrol costing as high as INR 101.59 per litre and diesel is at Rs 91.97 in many parts of India. The fuel prices differ from state to state in the country as taxes get levied on them by both central as well as state governments along with the freight charges. The unreasonable increase in the price of one of the basic needs, fuel has angered the citizens to no extent and they are coming up with creative ways to highlight their disagreement with the government.
Most of the Indian citizens are avid fans of the game of cricket and the sport is treated as a religion in the country. Thus, the political leader belonging to the Indian National Congress (INC) party took to cricket as a medium to make people aware of the issue of rising fuel prices in the country. The capital city of Madhya Pradesh hosted the final of a domestic tournament organised in the state by Congress leader Manoj Shukla on February 28, Sunday.
The final match was played between two local teams namely Sunrisers Eleven and Shagir Tarik Eleven where the former outplayed the latter to win the trophy. Sunrisers Eleven player Salauddin Abbasi was impressive throughout the game and was rightly adjudged as the player of the match.
A photo of a man posing with the bat in front of a petrol pump goes viral
However, instead of getting prize money as a reward for his stunning performance, the cricketer was presented with 5 litres of petrol by the organisers. The picture of Salauddin getting 5 litres of petrol as a reward went viral on social media with many people lauding the authorities for coming up with this unique way. The picture also initiated a meme fest on social networking sites as many memers and trollers came up with their own funny interpretations of the whole scenario.
A few days back a similar incident had taken place when the photo of a man posing in front of a petrol pump with a cricket bat and helmet in hand had gone viral on social media. The man had taken a sly dig at the increasing petrol prices in India by posing as if he had scored a century in a cricket match.
