The dazzling Yellow Army of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has lifted the prestigious IPL trophy thrice and is all set to steal the glory once again. Their customary pre-season dinner turned out to be a memorable gathering for the entire squad where the franchise honoured players with some great awards. The leader of CSK since the very inception, MS Dhoni also received a special honour for his unmatched contribution to the team.

Dhoni received the special award for fetching the highest runs for his team in IPL 2019. His stats in the last IPL speak volumes about his strength and class having amassed a total of 416 runs in 15 matches at 44.20. He tried his level best to clinch the trophy even last year but luck didn’t favour him as the team lost by just one run in a dramatic finale.

The franchise posted the pictures of their memorable luncheon where awards were given away by head coach Stephen Fleming. The caption read, “Our customary pre-season dinner turned into a memorable lunch this time and our Lions walked away with some Super Duper Awards. #Thala Dhoni for leading the team with the willow and scoring the most runs for the Super Kings in IPL 2019.”

CSK debutants R Sai Kishore and Piyush Chawla also received their jerseys on this special occasion from Dhoni and coach Stephen Fleming.

Special honour for Jadeja and Watson too

In the meantime, the Yellow franchise also presented special gifts to certain players. Ravindra Jadeja and all-rounder Shane Watson got lucky enough to receive customised mementos from the franchise. The latter received a special photo frame that had his animated version playing a splendid shot during IPL 2019 finale, a match where his innings stunned opponents.

On the other hand, ace fielder Jadeja got a replica of a golden sword with a message- “The Rajput Boy”. He is the only Indian player to clinch more than 100 wickets and has scored 1900+ runs in IPL. He has the credit of scalping most wickets by any left arm-spinner which stands at 108. The IPL 2020 is all set to see two big names CSK and MI locking horns in the season opener on September 19.
