MS Dhoni has been one of the greatest stalwarts of all-time in international cricket. He has always put his hands up for every opportunity that has been entrusted upon him. He always leads his side with utmost care and belief. He has been one of the most prolific leaders of all time. IPL 2020 is the most awaited league not just for Indian cricket but also for Dhoni’s fans.

The 39-year-old MS hasn’t played any form of cricket since the semifinal of last year’s World Cup where India lost to New Zealand. There have been continuous predictions on his future in Indian cricket after the mega event in England and Wales. The great man though has remained calm and hasn’t cared to respond to the speculations.

Akash Chopra believes Dhoni not among those fretting over every match

Former Indian opener Akash Chopra, in a video posted on a YouTube channel, said that the Jharkhand-born Dhoni has never had any individual targets going into a game. 

“From an individual’s perspective, from a batsman’s perspective or a career’s perspective, it is not that important. The stage he is in his career, he is not going to fret about how each match of the IPL would go or whether he would be selected for Team India or not. He is past all of that,” he opined.

The ace commentator insisted that the only thing that matters for Dhoni in this year’s IPL is the success of Chennai Super Kings (CSK). “This IPL is only important for him in one way, that what would happen to Chennai Super Kings. Because the strings of Chennai Super Kings’ success are all tied to MS Dhoni,” Chopra said.

Aakash also stated that the great man’s form would be highly crucial for carrying the team forward in the league.”If he is in good form, it would be easier for him to carry the team. But if he is not making runs, then he will not enjoy the game as much. If I see from that angle, then each match that you play is important, also because he is playing cricket after a gap of one year,” he insisted.

Chopra was also of the view that looking at the CSK skipper’s career, he will still score good and the team will also do well. “But if you look at his career and comeback in Team India and all of that, I don’t think it is going to have a considerable impact. He will score runs now also, and his team will also do well, I have no doubt about that,” Aakash believed.
