Babar Azam, the prolific batsman from Pakistan has earned the reputation of a great batsman in a very short span of time in international cricket. He is technically very sound batsman, who has emerged as a run machine for Pakistan in the last couple of years. He has a big fanbase across the globe and Danny Morrison, the Kiwi commentator is one of them, who revealed the reason why he likes Babar Azam as a batsman.
In modern-day cricket, the hard-hitting batsman like David Warner, Chris Gayle, Glenn Maxwell are known as the T20 specialists. Meanwhile, there is Babar Azam, who cannot smack big sixes but has changed the definition for the batsmen in the shorter format. On the back of his technique and consistency, he has gained the number one position in the latest T20I rankings for batsmen released by ICC.
Danny Morrison said that Babar Azam is the number one T20I batsman in the world and added that he likes the way Pakistan batsman uses his wrist while batting. The former Kiwi player feels proud that he got the opportunity to work in the UAE due to which he was able to see this type of development in the recent past.
“The number one batsman in the world for T20 is Babar Azam. I love watching him play because of his beautiful wrist work. I have been fortunate enough to cover a lot of cricket in the UAE for the past 10 years, which is why I have seen his development in the last few years come through,” said Morrison in a YouTube video.
Danny Morrison happy to see Shaheen Afridi developing
The Kiwi commentator also heaped praises on Pakistani pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi. He recited that two years ago in New Zealand, the 20-year-old was playing in U19 World Cup. Also, he looked impressed with the way Afridi has developed himself into a great bowler.
“I was in New Zealand in January, two years ago, for the U19 World Cup and Shaheen was there. Again it’s good to see him developing into this wonderful talent and is only really started his journey. He is very exciting,” he added.
