Delhi Capitals have shown a lot of promise in the last two years where they qualified for the playoffs both times. Shikhar Dhawan who earlier paired up with David Warner has been opening the innings for Delhi Capitals since 2019. Among the bowlers, Rashid Khan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are at the joint top spot with 13 wickets each, followed by Amit Mishara (12) and Kagiso Rabada (11).

In IPL 2020, Sunrisers Hyderabad won both their league matches against Delhi Capitals but lost the important qualifier game. In the first match, SRH posted a total of 162/4 with the help of a half-century from Jonny Bairstow and defended the score successfully to win the match by 15 runs. Rashid Khan bowled brilliantly for them picking up 3 wickets for 14 runs in his 4 overs.

In the second match, DC was completely decimated by the SRH team as they collapsed for just 131 runs while chasing a big target of 220 runs. Wriddhiman Saha played a blistering knock of 87 runs off 45 balls, and shared a 107-run opening partnership with David Warner who hit 66 runs off 34 balls. Rashid Khan again starred with the ball picking up 3 wickets for just 7 runs in his 4 overs.

SRH reached the second qualifier after defeating RCB in the eliminator. DC scored 189/3 which included a 78-run knock from Shikhar Dhawan. In the chase, Kane Williamson and Abdul Samad tried their best to win the game but failed in the end. SRH managed a score of 172/8 and lost the game by 17 runs.
