In a generation of slam bam cricket, the ball tends to sail over the ropes for sixes at regular intervals, especially in the shorter formats. Even as such shots are sources of entertainment for the audiences, it can also turn out to be a nightmare for a spectator. An incident occurred during the ongoing Deodhar Trophy in Ranchi where a young boy was hit on the shoulder.
It was during the first innings of the match between India C and India B when the occurring unfolded. Mohammed Siraj dished out a half volley in the slot and on seeing it, striker Virat Singh’s eyes lit up. The batsman decided to take the aerial route down the ground and made a proper connection. There were no half measures and the leather went over the ropes.
Unfortunately, a boy standing near a barricade near the boundary didn’t notice the trajectory of the ball. The youngster couldn’t get out of the line of the ball and hence copped a nasty blow on the shoulder. He was seen clutching on to his shoulder in extreme pain. The person beside him rubbed his shoulders as well. Seeing the scary moment, even Virat looked a tad worried.

A one-sided encounter in the Deodhar Trophy
As far as the game is concerned, India C won the toss and elected to bat first. Skipper Shubman Gill perished for a single, but the team managed to pile on a competitive score of 280 for the loss of five wickets on the board. Virat had an excellent day with the bat. The southpaw stayed unbeaten on 76 off 96 with three fours and as many sixes. He was involved in a 154-run stand with Axar Patel.
Axar played an absolute blinder and he raced away to 98 off 61 with 13 fours and three hits into the stands. For India B, Shahbaz Nadeem was the standout bowler with a couple of wickets. In the run-chase, only Baba Aparajith could show some fight. The right-hander scored 53 runs off 90 deliveries with the help of five fours. But the knock couldn’t save India B from a defeat by 136 runs.
