The 2020 Indian Premier League auction is in full flow at the City of Joy, Kolkata. And, it has been a roller coaster thus far. The IPL Auction is a day of contrasting emotion for the cricketers who are going under the hammer. It is a day where dreams are realized, fairytales are accentuated for those who rack up millions of dollars. And, it is also a day of absolute agony for those who miss out on an elusive contract in the cash-rich league.
And, the ongoing auction has been no different. While the likes of Pat Cummins, Glenn Maxwell, and Nathan Coulter-Nile, Shimron Hetmayer raked up huge moolah after the furious bidding that ensued among the franchise, the likes of Mushfiqur Rahim, Colin de Grandhomme and Dale Steyn went unsold.
But, interestingly there were no bidding wars for former Kolkata Knight Riders and Australia tearaway opener Chris Lynn as he racked up fair and square on his base price (2 crores INR) by the defending champions Mumbai Indians.
Chris Lynn relieved that he will not have to face Jasprit Bumrah
The track at Mumbai is really a flat one and it is of the kind that is ideally suited for Lynn’s style of play. And, Lynn knows it. The right-handed swashbuckling batsman is elated at the prospect of joining a celebrated franchise like Mumbai Indians.
But, it is not the only thing that Lynn is happy about. The right-hander is relieved that he will no longer have to bat against Jasprit Bumrah- the No.1 ranked ODI bowler in the world.
Lynn took to Twitter where he expressed his emotions and wrote, @mipaltan ✅Great City ✅Quality Franchise ✅Flat wicket ✅Don’t have to play against @Jaspritbumrah93 ✅ Can’t wait for @IPL 2020″
Can’t wait for @IPL 2020
