West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has decided to come out of his international retirement. He has also cleared that he will be available to play for West Indies in the shortest format of the game. This also paves the way for him to be available for him to feature in the T20 World Cup next year in Australia if the selectors consider him. Bravo had retired from international cricket in October last year.
However, the 36-year-old kept on playing in the T20 leagues across the world to win some of the major tournaments as well. He recently won the T10 League while leading the Maratha Arabians. But the all-rounder last featured in the Maroon jersey in September 2017 against Pakistan. Since then he wasn’t considered for selection in the team which led to Bravo calling it quits from the international arena.
However, according to the reports in Sportstar, Dwayne Bravo has reversed his international retirement and has made himself available for the selection in the shortest format of the game.
Changes at administration level led to Dwayne Bravo taking the decision
Dwayne Bravo’s fallout with the previous administrating management of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) was known to everyone. This had led to his non-selection in the team and the man himself has cleared in a statement released that he has decided to make a comeback due to the changes in the top management.
“Today I confirm the announcement of my decision to return to international cricket to all my fans and well-wishers around the world. It’s no secret that this big announcement has come as a result of the changes made at the administration level,” Bravo said in a statement.
Dwayne Bravo’s return to international cricket is a huge boost to West Indies ahead of the T20 World Cup. He has immense experience of 450 T20 matches and if selected, the Caribbeans’ fortunes in the format might change. West Indies recently lost to India in the three-match T20I series. They will next face Ireland at home in 3 ODIs and as many T20 Internationals in January 2020. It remains to be seen if Bravo will be picked right away in the team.
